Sunset Cruise on a Dhow
Dhows are beautiful traditional sailing vessels, that have been around for thousands of years. In Doha, you can see them at the jetty on the Corniche, many of them available for charter.
Experiencing Doha’s skyline at sunset, onboard a wooden dhow is a perfect way to end a busy day in Qatar. It’s where old and new meet in Qatar. Aside from a good look at the water-facing sides of I.M.Pei’s famous Museum of Islamic Art, and a huge Richard Serra sculpture, you get great views of the individual buildings in Doha’s business district–that continue to shoot up into the sky like mushrooms.
If you find a dhow along the Corniche, or Jetty, the going rate to tag along with other tourists is usually $10-$15. Tour companies offer 3-4 hour cruises with dinner, and of course the dhows can also be chartered for private outings.
