Italian Job

Meet Daisy and Lulu–two charming vintage minis we hired for a tire-squealing, way-off-the-beaten-path tour of London.

According to Small Car Big City (SCBC), Daisy dislikes rain and traffic, is a big hit at weddings and scares the occasional Subaru Impreza around roundabouts. Lulu on the other hand, is into making as much noise as possible in tunnels, joining flash dance mobs on the South Bank and ordering too much ice-cream from Gelateria in Borough Market ; )

Daisy and Lulu’s handlers for the day, SCBC’s ‘leading lass’ Sam, and Tom, were equally adorable. Both are awesome drivers, and my only complaint is that they made the afternoon pass way too fast!!! I have lived in London, and I was still surprised by many of the local gems they unearthed for us. Among many other stops and drive-bys, we saw Borough Market, a cute local coffee shop called Paper & Cup, Leake Street, Brick Lane, and Burlington Arcade on our way back to the The Trafalgar St. James.

people’s reactions were hilarious, as we speed past them. Split second irritation immediately made way to big smiles, waves, and picture taking. Who doesn’t like a vintage Mini or two? Get ready for your adrenaline to kick in–driving with your tush so close to the street makes even 25mph feel like break-neck speed!

Guided tours range from 1 hour to a full day. We chose the ‘Italian Job’ (Hotel Pick-up & Artisan Coffee, 2hr + Street Art & Markets, half a day of serious fun) for roughly $550. Check www.smallcarbigity.com for more info.
